Do you have big dreams of walking the runway? Or perhaps flaunting your curves on the pages of a fashion magazine? No matter who you are or where you come from there is opportunity for everyone to get in front of the camera.

Below is my quick tips for elevating your career as a model;

➡️ TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF: hygiene and self care is number 1 in this industry! keep your skin moisturised at all times, whiten your teeth at least once a week and/or meet with a dentist regularly, ensure you shower just before every photo shoot, shampoo and condition your hair the night before a shoot, drink tons of water and ensure that your nails are always manicured before a shoot.

➡️ MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND HOW COLLAB WORKS: a photographer is the most important person to work with on a photo shoot. yes, you need to get on well with the makeup artist and stylist but the photographer has had sooooo many models in front of the camera and they're the best ones to know whether you have what it takes or not. make sure you take the time to sit down with the photographer and ask them for their feedback on the session. if they're a pro, they should be able to give you some bang on information that you can use to better your career. how many of you are actually doing this? probably none i bet but its the most important thing as a model that you should be doing. some photographers can be harsh in their feedback but they're probably the best people to tell you what you don't want to hear but what you need to hear so make sure you have thick skin.

➡️ YOUR SOCIALS ARE YOUR BUSINESS CARD: if you're serious about modelling you really should be strategising your instagram portfolio. Putting pretty pictures on insta won't get you any attention. Having a strategic plan and putting out purposeful content is what makes you stand out from the crowd. Each month you should be thinking about what kind of images you want to be portraying that month and undertaking photo shoots that align with that concept. Think about the seasons, colours, charity events you can align with and make sure that the content you're putting online is not only consistent and aesthetically pleasing but your contents intentional as well.
